Nestled in the heart of the Himalayas lies the serene country of Bhutan.
Serving as the main gateway to this landlocked nation, the Paro Airport is the sole international airport in Bhutan. Perched on the banks of the Paro Chhu River, this airport presents a unique challenge to pilots, as very few are licensed to fly into it due to its treacherous location deep within a valley.
The pilots have to navigate through towering mountain ranges and then make a steep descent onto the single runway, which is a mere 1980 meters long.
