Palermo is one of Sicily’s most fascinating cities, but rubbish collection has repeatedly become a visible problem.

At times, garbage accumulates around bins and along streets. Illegal dumping is another challenge in certain outer neighborhoods. This contrasts sharply with Palermo’s magnificent churches, markets, palaces, and historic squares.
