Athens contains some of Europe’s greatest ancient monuments, including the Acropolis and Parthenon.

However, heavy traffic, graffiti, summer heat, and crowded streets can catch first-time visitors off guard. Some neighborhoods also appear less polished than the famous archaeological areas.
