This highway is one of the world’s most remote and challenging roads. The James Dalton Highway runs for about 414 miles through the freezing Alaskan wilderness. It is full of potholes, and strong winds can make driving impossible. The road is covered in ice for most of the year, and there are few places to stop for fuel or help.
