Deep in the Karakum Desert, a giant crater has been burning for over 50 years. This fiery pit, known as the “Door to Hell,” was created when a gas field collapsed in 1971.
Scientists set it on fire to prevent poisonous gas from spreading, and it has been burning ever since. The sight of the flames lighting up the desert is both eerie and fascinating.
