Although Chowpatty Beach is well-known in India, it is unfortunately considered one of the most polluted beaches in the world.Every year, as part of the Hindu festival of Ganesha Chaturthi, hundreds of Mumbai residents flock to the beach to practice washing their idols of Lord Ganapati in the sea.
