Matera is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. It is famous for its Sassi, ancient cave dwellings carved into the rock.

These stone houses were once homes to locals but are now turned into museums, hotels, and restaurants. Walking through the town feels like traveling back in time. In 2019, Matera was named the European Capital of Culture.
