The death toll from the accident, which sent multiple carriages down an embankment, makes it one of the most lethal in the country’s history. At least 58 people were injured in the crash on Wednesday, officials from the Castilla-La Mancha region said. That number and the death toll could both rise. In Spanish news reports, passengers who were in the crash described an awful impact that tossed people from a dining car, broke limbs and piled passengers atop one another.
