The Tapestries Gallery
In the year 1838, the Vatican Pinacoteca showcases an exquisite collection of tapestries, featuring masterpieces from both the Scuola Nuova and Scuola Vecchia. Originating from Brussels and crafted during the 16th century, these stunning works of art consist of pieces by Raphael and his students’ reproductions.
It was in 1531 that these tapestries first graced the illustrious Sistine Chapel.
The Geographical Maps Gallery
Located en route to the Sistine Chapel, this particular section is among the most captivating spaces within the Vatican Museum.
Spanning 120 meters, it features an array of geographical maps that illustrate the Italian regions, including prominent ports of the era. These maps were created between 1581 and 1583.
The Sistine Chapel
The primary chapel of the apostolic edifice holds great significance. As a representation of Italian heritage, art, and architecture globally, it is renowned.
Focused on the Ascension of the Virgin Mary, Pope Sixtus IV Della Rovere commissioned its construction, which took place between 1475 and 1481.
