Stelvio Pass is one of Europe’s most spectacular mountain roads.
Located high in the Italian Alps, it is famous for dozens of tight hairpin turns climbing up the mountainside. The road reaches an elevation of more than 2,700 meters and offers breathtaking Alpine views. Driving it requires concentration, especially in heavy traffic.

Local villagers carved the Guoliang Tunnel Road directly through a mountain.
Openings in the rock provide dramatic views over the surrounding cliffs and valleys. The tunnel is narrow, dark in places, and unlike a normal highway. Its extraordinary construction has made it famous worldwide.
Trollstigen, Norway
Trollstigen, meaning “Troll’s Ladder,” climbs through one of Norway’s most dramatic mountain landscapes.
It features 11 sharp hairpin bends, steep mountains, and powerful waterfalls. A viewing platform above the road provides an incredible perspective of the twisting route below.
Zoji La Pass, India
Zoji La is a high mountain pass connecting Kashmir with Ladakh.
The road crosses rugged Himalayan terrain where snow, fog, steep drops, and changing weather can make driving difficult. Large vehicles sometimes have to navigate extremely narrow sections, making this one of India’s most dramatic roads.
Transfăgărășan Highway, Romania
Romania’s Transfăgărășan Highway twists through the Carpathian Mountains with tunnels, bridges, steep climbs, and countless curves. North Yungas Road, Bolivia
Bolivia’s North Yungas Road ranks as the number-one road among the world’s most Insane Roads.
Often called the “Death Road,” it became internationally famous for its narrow surface, steep cliffs, waterfalls, fog, and enormous drops. A newer highway now carries much of the regular traffic, but the old road remains famous as an adventure destination, particularly for mountain biking.
In some sections, the route is only a few meters wide, with dramatic valleys immediately beside it. The combination of tropical scenery, high mountains, narrow passages, and legendary reputation makes North Yungas Road one of the most extraordinary roads on Earth.
